Its inclusion has become a big symbol of India's strength at sea and self-reliant defense capability.

Confluence of Brahmos and Barak

The Brahmos cruise missile and Barak-8 anti-aircraft missile have been deployed on Himgiri. Brahmos can attack from sea to land and sea to sea. Barak-8 is capable of stopping enemy air attacks. Due to these missiles, both attack and defense of Himgiri will be strengthened. This warship is capable of responding to the enemy from every direction.

21,833 crore project

Three warships are being built under Project 17A. Himgiri is the first of these to be delivered. The total cost of the three ships is estimated to be Rs 21,833 crore. GRSE has built 112 ships so far, and this is their 801st ship. This achievement is considered a record in Indian shipbuilding history.

Excellence in design and technology

The design of Himgiri is completely modern. A combination of diesel engine and gas turbine has been used in it. This ship is equipped with advanced AESA radar and a modern warfare system. It has air defense, surface warfare, and anti-submarine capabilities. All these features make it a multi-role warship.

Comfortable ship for sailors

Himgiri has complete accommodation for 225 officers and sailors. It has comfortable cabins and all the necessary facilities. The ship also has a complete deck and hangar for helicopter operations. This ship is capable of carrying out long-distance missions. It will feel like a floating home for the sailors.

It was launched in 2020

Himgiri was first launched in December 2020. After three years of rigorous testing and trials, it has now been handed over to the Navy. During this time, its missile, radar, and engine were tested several times. It was approved only after passing all the tests. With this launch, India's naval power has increased further.

India's new power at sea

The inclusion of Himgiri is a major achievement of India's self-reliant defense campaign. It is completely made of indigenous technology. Deadly missiles like Brahmos and Barak make it special. This will further ensure the security of India's maritime borders. It will also have a psychological impact on neighboring countries.
